The value of brand experience

Brands that aspire to stand out cannot limit themselves to product quality. Rather, they must offer a complete brand experience, capable of engaging and attracting the public in increasingly authentic ways. These were the topics focusedon inthe second workshop of the Artigiani 4.0 project, dedicated to building brand experience.

There are many ways to create an immersive brand, but starting with your heritage can be a good place to begin. Every company has a unique heritage to promote, especially in Italy with its rich manufacturing tradition. How can this be done? Through tools such as corporate museums, exhibitions, publications, documentaries, and digital content. This approach strengthens brand identity and conveys distinctive values, making the experience memorable and authentic.

An example of excellence in this field is the Lavazza Group, which, with its €3.1 billion turnover and presence in 140 markets, is one of the most globally recognized Italian brands. Lavazza's communication goes beyond the product: from famous characters such as Caballero and Carmencita, born from the creativity of Armando Testa, to initiatives that explore the world of coffee in all its nuances—collaborations with Michelin-starred chefs, designer calendars, and a presence at major international tennis tournaments. At the heart of Lavazza's strategy is the Lavazza Museum, which is not only an archive of coffee history, but also a key tool for the group's communication strategies.

The guest speaker at the second Artigiani 4.0 workshop was Marco Amato, Head of Corporate Communication Projects for the Lavazza Group, Director of the Lavazza Museum, and Business Development Manager at Lavazza Eventi for the development of La Nuvola – the group's headquarters in Turin. He is also Vice President of Museimpresa, Coordinator of the ICOM Italia Musei d'Impresa Working Group, and member of Confindustria's Technical Group on Corporate Culture. Thanks to the museum, Lavazza does many things, such as welcoming new employees, enriching the brand story, and offering the public an engaging and authentic experience.

Can all companies do this? Yes, provided they define the right narrative, set a budget, and seek to collaborate with storytelling experts who can help them create experiences that reflect the essence of the brand, bringing it to life and making it accessible.

During the workshop, it emerged that successful brand experiences can be very different in nature—aesthetic, educational, entertaining, or escapist—but they must always be unique, transformative, and authentic. Each experience represents an opportunity to increase the perceived value of the brand, leaving a lasting impact on the audience.

Ultimately, the real difference lies not only in the product, but in the ability to transform every contact with the public into an opportunity to tell a story, celebrate a legacy, and strengthen an identity. And in this journey, the company's cultural and historical heritage proves to be a fundamental pillar for creating a brand experience that is authentic, credible, and unforgettable.
