Building the future by building a solid corporate structure
Falpe operates in a competitive industry where simply offering quality products such as roller shutters, window frames, doors, and sunrooms is no longer enough: it is increasingly necessary to establish an internal organizational structure capable of supporting growth and streamlining coordination between the office, production, job sites, and customer relations. The company’s main objective is, in fact, to move beyond a structure heavily centered on the owners, which risks concentrating decisions, responsibilities, and day-to-day operations on too small a group of people. For a family business led by two brothers, this transition is particularly important: it means evolving without losing identity, maintaining the value of entrepreneurial leadership while transforming it into a more solid and shared structure. Falpe is a company capable of offering quality, reliability, a strong work ethic, and a contemporary vision of craftsmanship. In this sense, working on the organizational structure also means building a company that is more attractive to employees, specialized technicians, and the next generation.

“Città Falpe” and its in-house academy with Artigiani 4.0
The transformation process was developed as part of Artigiani 4.0, a program promoted by the Lombardy Region to support fashion and design SMEs in their innovation and growth initiatives. In Falpe’s case, the project focused on strengthening the company’s organizational and strategic framework, with the aim of making it less dependent on its owners and better prepared to undertake new phases of development. The work centered on the need to build a more advanced model, capable of better distributing responsibilities and functions, improving operational coordination, and clarifying the company’s operations. In this context, one of the key elements is the introduction of a middle management layer capable of acting as a link between senior management, the office, and the production sites, facilitating workflow management and contributing to greater organizational continuity. At the same time, the project also highlighted the role of the Opificio Zappa as a strategic space for the company’s future. This is where the idea of an internal academy comes in, conceived as a training, organizational, and cultural tool to attract young talent, guide them on a path of growth, and build over time a pool of technical skills aligned with the company’s work. For a company operating in the world of roller shutters, doors and windows, verandas, and fixtures, investing in the transfer of skills means concretely addressing the issue of generational turnover and the continuity of artisanal knowledge.
Attracting talent to grow the business
For many small and medium-sized craft businesses today, the real challenge is not just selling more, but creating the organizational conditions to sustain growth. In Falpe’s case, this means building a model in which the company can evolve without increasing the managerial burden on the owners, while maintaining high standards of work and service. Rethinking the organizational structure and investing in corporate culture thus becomes a strategic lever. In a context marked by the difficulty of finding skilled labor, a family business that manages to structure itself well, communicate its story effectively, and offer a solid and recognizable work environment increases its ability to attract talented people and retain them over time. The expected benefits of this project are concrete. On the one hand, Falpe can strengthen the scalability of its business by improving coordination among the various company functions. On the other hand, it can transform often implicit knowledge into clearer, shared processes, reducing dependence on individuals and increasing organizational continuity. Finally, it can consolidate a more distinctive positioning, consistent with the quality of its products and the identity of a family business that wants to grow without sacrificing its character. In this sense, the project demonstrates how organizational innovation, workplace appeal, and strategic positioning are now closely intertwined. For a company like Falpe, working on these aspects means preparing for the future on a more solid foundation, building on the legacy forged over more than fifty years of experience.
